This event is still in the very early stages of planning, but we wanted to go ahead and make sure it got on your radar. We are excited to help welcome a great new restaurant to Chapel Hill in Hawthorne & Wood. Located just up the road from us off Highway 54, Hawthorne & Wood opened to acclaim just last weekend. Hawthorne & Wood's Chef-Owner, Brandon Sharp, grew up in Greensboro, NC and attended UNC-Chapel Hill. He spent the next twenty years cooking in New Orleans, San Francisco, New York, and northern California, earning seven consecutive Michelin stars as Executive Chef of Solbar in Napa Valley from the years 2010-2016. Brandon and his family returned to Chapel Hill in the fall of 2016. With Hawthorne & Wood, he and his talented staff offer a neighborhood restaurant, bar and patio lounge. In the spirit of Chapel Hill, your dinner can be fancy, laid-back, or anywhere in between - they leave it up to you. Their clear, bright, and stimulating cuisine give a fresh turn to local ingredients.
For an inaugural wine dinner, we've invited a very special guest and will be joined by Master Sommelier Max Kast, Director of Education for Broadbent Selections. Max is easily one of the most knowledgeable and personable people in the wine profession, and Broadbent is a top tier importer of some of the globe's greatest wines. For this dinner, Chef Sharp and his team will craft some delectable dishes with the freshest seafood as the focus, and those plates will be paired up with wines from the Southern Hemisphere, one of the real strengths of Broadbent's portfolio. This may include wines from Chile, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, but wherever they are from you can sure they will be well made and delicious.
