California Central Coast Gems!

Since we are unable to hold our standard Saturday tasting, we are going to give you a great way to kick off Easter weekend with a phenomenal tasting on Friday evening, April 18th. To lure you in for a non-regular day and time, we've kicked things up a notch and have selected an amazing lineup of upper level wines for you to try. California's Central Coast is an immense wine region that produces a huge variety of fantastic wines. The Central Coast AVA in California covers the long stretch of coastline from San Francisco Bay south to Santa Barbara, and reaches inland from the Pacific Ocean to the borders of the Central Valley. The climate and topography vary enormously across this immense region, making it impossible to generalize about winegrowing conditions. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are arguably the most important grapes planted in the region, grapes famous from France’s Rhone Valley have passionate champions in places, and there are some incredibly experimental plantings of Spanish and Italian varieties that are getting a lot of exuberent attention. We'll start with a beautiful Grenache Blanc, a grape most famous out of both the Southern Rhone Valley in France and the warmer corners of Spain, before moving into a zesty Grenache Rosé, the red sibling grape the the blanc with origins back to those same regions. Next, we'll try two Pinot Noirs, one from the Santa Maria Valley, and one from the very esteemed appellation of Santa Rita Hills, one of our absolute favorite areas for Pinot. Lastly, we'll finish up with a California take on Spain's renowned Tempranillo grape, coming out of Santa Barbara County.
