Saturday, July 1st
4:30 - 7:00

This Saturday we are going to taste some fantastic Spanish wines which are both imported and distributed by great local, independent companies.  Founded by André Tamers in 1996, and based in Chapel Hill, De Maison Selections is an importing company that specializes in unique, high-quality, boutique wines, ciders and spirits from Spain and France. Today's focus for De Maison Selections continues their tradition of seeking out unique producers from Spain and France. The current majority of our portfolio is geared toward Spain. Spain continues to be a great wine frontier, constantly offering wonderful surprises.  While De Maison does not a rigid dogma, they do believe that in the search for excellence there needs to always be respect for the environment, and they wineries they represent all follow viticultural practices in accord with responsible, sustainable agriculture.
Beginning in 1995 with six wines from Puglia, Haw River Wine Man has quietly compiled
an Italian wine portfolio that stands out in North Carolina and South Carolina for quality, price and selection. With a firm belief that wine is an every day beverage, and not the exclusive domain of the wealthy and privileged, the company strives to bring the consumer the best values possible by sourcing wine direct from the producer.  The company was founded by Jim Stock, and is based in Burlington.  Their portfolio has slowly grown from the original six wines to now include partnerships with around thirty estates in Italy.  Beginning in 2006, they began a collaboration with Rosenthal Wine Merchant, one of the most respected importers of wines from France and Italy to North Carolina.  Their expansion into Europe continued in 2012 with the inclusion of the fantastic wines of Spain from De Maison Selections and Andre Tamers, our focus for this Saturday's tasting.  Our good friend Andrea Fullbright, the Haw River Wine (Wo)Man will be on hand to lead us through the selections.
