Austrian wines are some of the most food friendly beverages you can come across. From their classic white grape Grüner Veltliner to the various zesty, spicy reds they produce, they are often wines that will match with an amazing variety of foods. So that means, they are incredible Thanskgiving wines! With this first tasting of November, we will start a string of tastings through the month all geared toward helping make your holiday feast one to remember. As mentioned above, Austria's most famous wine is made from the Grüner Veltliner grape. These are white wines with notes of citrus and green apple, often with a touch of white pepper accents in the background, and then varying degrees of other flavors that often fall on the savory side. We will taste two different Grüners, on a bit more easy-going everyday style, and then one more premium from Ott Estate, which year in and year out is consistently one of the best we sell. For the reds, we've got two excellent selections, starting with a lovely Pinot Noir that has been a staff and customer favorite for multiple vintages, followed by a great blend of the three indigenous red grapes of Austria with Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, and St. Laurent. For those who like to plan your holiday meals in advance, here's a chance to get loaded up early! But as tasty and versatile as these wines are, you might also want to grab some for tailgating, for mid-week pizza or chili, or to go with some spicy Thai take-out. We hope you can join us this Saturday!
