For this Saturday’s tasting we welcome Amy Hallett, our rep for one of our favorite local imports – Piedmont Wine Imports. PWI was founded by Jay Murrie, who many Triangle wine lovers may remember from his time as buyer at A Southern Season and 3 Cups. Through PWI Jay and his team focus on mostly Italian wine, with some French, German and Austrian selections as well. The one thing that ties together all the wineries they represent is a dedication to both the land and family. All of their estates are smaller, family run farms, nearly all organic if not biodynamic, following the ethos of minimal intervention winemaking. We’ll focus on four of our favorite Italian wines brought to us by PWI. Let’s start with one of the most elegant Prosecco in the market, and then move on to a beautiful dry Moscato with amazing aromatics. We’ll then move on to two reds, one a great Barbera with a nice spicy, earthy tone, and then a delicious wine from the Piedmont made out of the lesser known grape Freisa. This is a great selection that we hope you enjoy!
