Summer Sippers from Spain and Portugal

All of this recent heat has us craving refreshment.  In the wine world, some of the most refreshing wines are lighter and more fruit forward, often with excellent acidity and sometimes even a touch of spritz.  We found a slew of new wines from Spain and Portugal that hit the nail on the head, and we are going to open them for you to try this weekend!  Of course, we have to have some Vinho Verde from Portugal.  This light, slightly effervescent wine is a summertime staple, and may be the ultimate pool side quaff.  Besides those lovely bubbles, Vinho Verde is also usually lower in alcohol allowing you to sip away without as much fear of overindulging.  We'll sample both a classic white Vinho Verde as well as a tasty Rosé version.  From Spain we'll have a couple of delicious crowd pleasers in Liter bottles - a tasty Viura from Navarra that is bright, citrusy and zesty, and a light, fresh red  from Utiel Requena made of the Bobal grape, certified organic and made following most of the ideas of the Natural wine movement.  Finally, we'll finish with a great Tempranillo and Monastrell blend that is also made with minimal intervention techniques.  We hope you can join us to beat the heat and find some new favorite wines for summer.
