The Gil Family Estates group of wines began with a single winery, Bodegas Juan Gil, and has grown over the last decade or so into one of the most compelling portfolios of Spanish wines. The namesake winery was founded in 1916, and is now in it's fourth generation as a family run winery, making lovely wines from Spain's Jumilla region. There are many of us in the wine business whose first taste of Monastrell from Spain was through Bodegas Juan Gil. Since helping to open doors to lesser known Spanish regions, the family expanded their vision through incorporating a number of other wineries from up and coming appellations. The wineries of Gil Family Estates are firmly committed to the native varieties of grapes coming from each winery's own Spanish wine region. They are especially engaged in the conservation of the old vineyards composing the rich and scarce heritage of these unique varieties of grapes, with winemakers who have specialized experience int he production of these typical varieties of their land. Each displays a great sense of their individual terroir and genuine personality of grape and place. And to top it all off, they are some of the best value wines on the market, ensuring that you get a lot while spending little.
