Imported Wines of Winesellers, Ltd.
Friday, August 3rd
5:00 - 7:00
We've got two more fantastic tasting opportunities this week to help wrap up our Summer Sale. Friday evening we will welcome David Koebley of Winesellers, Ltd., who will pour a varied selection of some of our favorites of their international portfolio. Founded in 1978 by Yale Sager, Winesellers, Ltd. began as a one-man operation importing and selling wines primarily in the Midwest. Over the last four decades, Winesellers, Ltd. has evolved into a globally recognized importer and marketer of family-owned wineries and brands produced in both well-known and unique regions from around the world. The Sager family is proud of their enduring relationships with their wholesalers and suppliers, some whom have been a part of Winesellers portfolio from the very beginning. The Wine Enthusiast lauded Winesellers as "Importer of the Year" in 2015, though the could contend for that title every year. Please join us for a brief look into the wines they love!

Argentine Wines of Paul Hobbs
Saturday, August 4th
4:30 - 7:00
For the last hurrah of the last few hours of the Summer Sale, we are going to look at the delectable Argentine wines from winemaker Paul Hobbs. Many of you will know Mr. Hobbs from his eponymous California wines, which receive both stellar critical reviews and sky high prices. He has also been a major force in Argentina though, where through both his own Viña Cobos winery and a number of consulting relationships, he has had huge influence in modernizing techniques and increasing quality in the Argentine wine community. Over the past thirty years, Hobbs and his team at Viña Cobos have dedicated themselves to seek out, study, and develop vineyard sites in the two premier growing regions of Mendoza: Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. Through meticulous vineyard management and minimal intervention in the winemaking process, the wines express the true essence of their terroir with finesse, complexity, and authenticity. Since the first vintage release in 1999, Viña Cobos has pushed the boundaries of quality for malbec and for Argentina, striving to continuously set the standard for excellence in the region. In 1988, Paul arrived in Mendoza, where he fell in love with the landscape and the country. Immediately recognizing the possibilities of the Malbec grape for quality wine production in the area, he began his work improving vineyard management practices and promoting minimal intervention in winemaking, as well as exploring authenticity in the unique terroirs of each appellation, vineyard and block. As a result, Paul succeeded in elevating Malbec on the world stage as Argentina’s signature grape variety. Today, his work is highly regarded around the world: he has consulted at more than 30 wineries in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Canada, Spain, France, Armenia and elsewhere. For this tasting, we'll sample two Viña Cobos wines as well as three wines from other wineries with Paul as the consulting winemaker.
