Normandy Ciders of Eric Bordelet
Friday, March 2nd
5:00 - 7:00
On Friday, we are excited to welcome Eric Bordelet for a tasting of the delicious apple and pear ciders he makes. Once one of the most influential Sommelier in Paris, Eric rubbed shoulders with some of the greatest French wine growers. Inspired by them, and especially Didier Dagueneau, he decided in 1992 to take over his family farm in southern Normandy, and apply oenological practices to produce his Cidres and Poirés. Conscious of the "necessity to respect the soil and the fruit to make a soulful product", he converted his entire orchard to Biodynamy. When tasting his wares, you understand that 'terroir' is not a notion reserved only for wine. His orchard is rich with a stunning array of dozens of heirloom apples and pears coming from older trees, some nearly 300 years old. The style of his Cidres and Poirés are inspired by the finest Champagnes, and showcase complexity and finesse, with elegant soft effervescence.

Off to Argentina!
Saturday, March 3rd
4:30 - 7:00
When I opened the store in 2008, I was very aware of the popularity Malbec and other Argentine wines had garnered. Honestly I thought we might be at their peak of popularity at that time, but I could not have been more wrong, as they have continued to be a go-to favorite of many of our regular customers. And with good reason - some of the best value in wines from around the globe right now come out of Argentina. These are complex wines, often bursting with wonderful fruit, but offering huge bang for the buck. We've picked out a selection of some of our current favorites, and will be featuring them this evening. But there is another motive here, as I leave the next day for a whirlwind trip to Argentina! Though I wish I could, I can't take you all with me - I can't pay those luggage fees! But I thought we could kick off the trip together by sharing a preview of some of the great wineries I will be visiting. All three of the red wines featured Saturday evening come from the importer I will be travelling with, and from wineries I will be visiting. The white wine and the rosé come from another importer, and while they won't be included in my travels we have included them for this tasting, as they are wonderful examples of their given styles. So before everyone bunkers down to watch Saturday night's big basketball game, come by and help wish me Buen Viaje!
