We are excited this evening to welcome to the store
Núria Garrote-i-Esteve, the founder and owner of the excellent importer Vino Vi & Co.. Her portfolio comprises several producers from Spain and Southern France. We love how Núria describes the producers she represents:
"They are perfectionists. They have strong personalities. They follow their own obsessions. They are tireless workers. They have passion for their land. They have nurtured an intimate and spiritual relationship with their vines; they know each one, and they pamper them. They are farmers. They are gardeners. They are winemakers. In each wine there is a part of their soul, their story, their landscape. Their wines talk to us. They do not scream. They whisper their beauty to us. They are happy people. Weekly Saturday Tasting

Queen of the Sierra Wines

For this Saturday's tasting, we are going to focus on one specific wine label. Queen of the Sierra is a line of wines from California's Forlorn Hope Winery, and are some of our favorite examples of Minimum Intervention winemaking, (also referred to as 'Natural' wines). These wines are a celebration of the steep limestone and schist slopes of Rorick Heritage Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. Made from 100% Estate grown fruit, they are organically farmed, hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented by native yeasts, unfiltered and unfined, with nothing added but minimal effective sulfur. These are honest and pure California estate wines made with soul that are approachable in price as well as in the glass.
