Sokol Blosser Winery
With vineyards planted in the early 70s, Sokol Blosser was one of the original forces in Oregon wines. They released their first vintage in 1977, and have been champions of Oregon Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris ever since. They are also great stewards of the land, and have been at the forefront of certified organic agriculture and sustainable business practices. In the late 90s they rolled out Evolution White, a wonderful white blend, followed soon after by its companion Big Time Red; a few years down the road this was joined by more varieties including one of the best value Oregon Pinot Noirs we’ve worked with. Just a few years ago they delved into the world of Sparkling Wines as well, with their Bluebird Cuvée. It has been one of our best selling bubbles ever since! The Evolution line is about approachability and easy drinking; the Sokol Blosser wines are about
elegance and finesse.
We think Sokol Blosser can cover Thanksgiving from top to bottom. Our six-pack starts with their delightful Sparkling Bluebird Cuvée Brut, an excellent Pinot Noir based bubbly that will work as a fantastic kick off to the celebration. We'll include one bottle each of Sokol Blosser's Pinot Gris, Rosé of Pinot Noir, and Redland Cuvée Pinot Noir. All three are immensely food friendly, and all have great flexibilty to match up with the variety of flavors across the holiday table. Don't sleep on that Rosé with the meal, as the pink wines might just be the best Thanksgiving pairings of all! We'll include one bottle of the Evolution 'Big Time' Red, and juicy blend that will work great next to a roaring fire after the meal, or even better with some Turkey and Cranberry Relish Sandwiches the next day! Finally, for a meal like this we know many people like a little bit of something sweet, we are reaching beyond the Oregon boundaries and including a bottle of Gianni Moscato d'Asti, one of our long time favorites. Moscato d'Asti is one of the few sweet wines that we like with dessert rather than in place of dessert, and its good acidity and slight effervescence make it pair wonderfully with your favorite pies and tarts
