Oregon Wines

Picture
Saturday, May 17th
1:00 - 3:00
We don't need any excuses to express our adoration of the delicious wines of the Willamette Valley, but the fact the May is Oregon Wine Month certainly doesn't hurt! What makes Willamette Valley wines truly exceptional is the region’s perfect harmony of climate, soil, and winemaking passion. Nestled between the Coast Range and the Cascades, the valley enjoys a cool, maritime-influenced climate ideal for growing delicate, expressive grapes—especially world-class Pinot Noir, for which it’s internationally renowned. Volcanic and sedimentary soils add complexity and character to the wines, while a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and small-lot, hands-on winemaking ensures quality in every bottle. The result is wines that are balanced, nuanced, and deeply reflective of place—elegant, earthy, and unmistakably Oregon. Oregon is a leader in sustainable winegrowing, with approximately 40% of its vineyards certified sustainable. The state’s dedication to eco-friendly practices is reflected in various sustainability certifications that appear on Oregon wine bottles, such as LIVE Certified Sustainable, Salmon Safe, Demeter Certified Biodynamic, and USDA Organic. These labels signify a commitment to preserving the environment through responsible farming, protecting water quality, supporting biodiversity, and minimizing the use of synthetic chemicals. By choosing Oregon wines with these certifications, you’re not only enjoying exceptional wines but also supporting a sustainable future for the wine industry. For our exploration of Oregon wines this Saturday, we'll start with a fantastic Viognier from Penner Ash winery. This small production wine is often reserved just for restaurants, so we were thrilled to be able to get our hands on some this year for retail. Next we'll move on to sample one of our favorite and most consistent rosé wines of the last decade in Sokol Blosser Winery's Rosé of Pinot Noir. We'll wrap up with two different Pinot Noirs, one a more entry level, and the second a very premium example that we don't often get to sample. Please come join us and celebrate Oregon Wine Month this Saturday!
