Red Wines for Autumn
Saturday, September 16th

After highlighting some of our favorite white wines for the change in seasons last week, this Saturday we turn our attention to some of the fantastic red wines we enjoy during the Fall. These are wines that will match up wonderfully with the flavors of Fall, from roasted root vegetables and sauteed mushrooms to your favorite braised meats. We'll start with a Greek wine from Crete, from a grape little known in the US but sure to impress with soft tannins and loads of red fruit and spice flavors. Next up will be a classic California Zinfandel, the kind of wine that is just waiting for your first fire pit of the season. We are always drawn during Autumn to wines from France's Rhone Valley, but for this tasting we're putting a different spin on it as we'll sample a California homage to a southern Rhone classic. Finally we will wrap up with a fantastic Spanish wine that is calling for hearty, earthy food pairings. While it's not quite full Autumn weather yet, we know it is coming, and this tasting will have you well prepared for its arrival!
