Tuscany is deservedly one of the most revered wine regions around the globe. It has a long history of being the birthplace of some of Italy's most renowned red wines. It is a place that captures the heart, with the romantic glamour of its rolling hills, cypress lined roads and hilltop villages. Yet being the home to such iconic wines as Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano makes sure that it is pleasing to the palate as well. It is a region rooted in tradition, yet also open to modernization and change, as seen through the rise of 'Super Tuscan' wines since the 1970s. It is a complex area, and the struggle here was to limit the tasting to just 54 wines, as there were so many options to consider!
