Spanish Values of Gil Family Estates

1/31/2018

Saturday, February 3rd
4:30 - 7:00

The Gil Family Estates group of wines began with a single winery, Bodegas Juan Gil, and has grown over the last decade or so into one of the most compelling portfolios of Spanish wines.  The namesake winery was founded in 1916, and is now in it's fourth generation as a family run winery, making lovely wines from Spain's Jumilla region.  There are many of us in the wine business whose first taste of Monastrell from Spain was through Bodegas Juan Gil.  Since helping to open doors to lesser known Spanish regions, the family expanded their vision through incorporating a number of other wineries from up and coming appellations.  The wineries of Gil Family Estates are firmly committed to the native varieties of grapes coming from each winery's own Spanish wine region.  They are especially engaged in the conservation of the old vineyards composing the rich and scarce heritage of these unique varieties of grapes, with winemakers who have specialized experience int he production of these typical varieties of their land.  Each displays a great sense of their individual terroir and genuine personality of grape and place.  And to top it all off, they are some of the best value wines on the market, ensuring that you get a lot while spending little.

Schug Winery Tasting

Picture

Tuesday, February 6th
5:00 - 7:00

Please join us on Tuesday the 6th as we welcome John Sanders of Schug Winery, a classic of the Carneros region of California.   We will taste through a variety of their wines, with John on hand to give in depth insight and background to the wines.  A highlight of this tasting will be the Schug 'Rebuild Wine Country' Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.   These are specially labelled bottles of Schug's Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with Schug donating $30.00 per case to Rebuild Wine Country.  Following the devastating fires of October 2017, Rebuild Wine Country was founded by wine industry professionals from both Napa Valley and Sonoma County.  They watched their families, friends and colleagues greive losses that are typically only seen on the news.  Yet, the tragedy as at their homes, in their vineyards, wineries and neighborhoods.  They believe the most urgent need is to rebuild homes for the people living in wine country.  Through Rebuild Wine Country's parent organization, Habitat For Humanity, every dollar donated willl be put, specifically, to rebuilding the homes in the North Bay.
