Lange Estate Winery & Vineyards Tasting

Picture

Thursday, March 5th
5:00 - 7:00

We've got a fun extra tasting this week, with a quick and easy look at three wines from a top notch Oregon Winery.  More than 30 years ago, Don and Wendy Lange founded their winery in the Dundee Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley.  The year 1987 marked Lange Estate Winery & Vineyards' first vintage and consisted of three varietals that the family continues to embrace today: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay.  What was once 6 planted acres and a basement tasting room is now 45 acres of estate vines with a state-of-the-art winery and hospitality center.  With panoramic views of the vineyard, two valleys and the Cascade Mountain Range, their destination winery has grown and become a cornerstone of an amazing wine region.  With second-generation winemaker Jesse Lange at the helm, their legacy continues.  As a family-owned and managed winery and vineyard operation, they focus on terroir through small-lot and artisanal winemaking philosophies - setting the standard for truly handcrafted wines.  We will be joined for this tasting by National Sales Manager Bill Mathes.

Wines of Charles Bieler
with special guest Laurence Vuelta

Saturday, March 7th
4:30 - 7:00

I had the pleasure of meeting and tasting recently with Charles Bieler when he visited North Carolina, accompanied by our dear friend Laurence O. Vuelta (Dr. LOV), our represnatative for Trinchero Family Estates who handle Charles' wines.  Charles' wine history goes back to the early 1990s, when his father Philippe founded Chateau Routas, and acclaimed producer of Grenache-based rosé and red wine in the Coteaux Varois region of Provence.  In 1998 they brought their dry rosé to the U.S. at a time when Americans expected all pink wines to be like White Zinfandel, and Chateau Routas was one of the early wineries to help turn this misconception on its head.  Charles continued to get experience in all levels of the wine business, from sales to winemaking, and in 2005 they sold Chateau Routas and established Bierer Père et Fils - meaning father and son - to focus soley on rosé.  From there Charles' energy and wanderlust have led him to numerous other wine projects, pairing up with Charles Smith of Washington State for the Charles & Charles wines, or pairing with Joel Gott for The Show wines and Shatter projects.  Together, they make the kinds of wines they lvoe to drink.  They wines are but one star of this show however, as our guide this Saturday will be the one-and-only Dr. L.O.V., Laurence O. Veulta.  As many of you know this hurricane in an elegant suit, you know the energy and enthusiasm he brings to the wines he believes in.  It's always equally fun and educational when Laurence joins us, and this should live up to our normal high expectations!
