Spanish Wines for Thanksgiving
1:00 - 3:00
For the last of our three tastings of Thanksgiving recommendations, we are going to turn to some of our favorite Spanish wines that will enhance your holiday meal. Spanish wines tend to be extremely food friendly, and work with a variety of flavors. Maybe this is because of Spain's love of tapas and pintxos, but either way they are delicious and top notch pairings. We will start with a classic Cava, the Spanish sparkling wine made outside of Barcelona. We'll then venture across the country to the Northwest corner of Galicia to sample one of the best Albariños we've encountered in some time. After that we move onto the reds, with a showstopping Mencía made by the winemaker many consider to be the ultimate producer of that grape, and finishing with charming Garnacha based field blend made be several Masters of Wine in the mountains of Castilla y Leon. Leading us through these selections will be Michael Maller of Orsini Wines, who served as the wine director of Mateo Tapas for many years before moving into sales, so you know he knows his Spanish food and wine!
