French Summer Wines from Vintage '59 Imports

Picture

Saturday, August 27th
4:30 - 7:00

For our Saturday Tasting this week we've invited another dear friend to join us, as Debra Lewis of Vintage '59 Imports will be joining us to pour some of her favorite French wines for summertime. Vintage '59 works with growers who manage small domains and make captivating wine. Some embrace organic or biodynamic values, some take a common-sense sustainable path; none adhere to conventional agro-chemical standards intent on volume. They are serious about their vineyard work, which they consider more fundamental than any post-harvest wizardry that may be employed to turn grape juice into wine. Minimalists in the cellar, these folks don't think highly of the Houdini bag of modern enological tricks. They do, however, think deeply of land, tradition, and kinship. Please join Debra and us as we look at five of the brightest stars in their portfolio!

South African Favorites

Monday, July 29th
5:00 - 7:00

To keep the excitement of our Summer Sale going, we've added a great Monday tasting for your enjoyment and education to start your week out right! We will welcome back Zingo Munger of Cape Classics, a Triangle area native and long time friend of Hope Valley Wine.  Through Cape Classics, Zingo represents many of our favorite and best selling South African Wines.  With 350 years of wine making under their belts it is odd to call South Africa a 'New World' wine, but they are still very new to many US consumers.  The political history of Apartheid and the sanctions levied because of it made the wines from this region difficult if not impossible to find in America for quite some time.  In the last two decades, South African wines have taken a quantum leap forward. 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of their young democracy and we celebrate this milestone by underscoring just how far their wine industry has advanced since its readmission to world trade in the 1990s.  We hope you can join us this evening for some stellar wines.
