Two Tastings This Week!

3/6/2019

German & Austrian Wines of Wineseller, Ltd.
Thursday, March 7th
5:00 - 7:00

Picture
For our first of two great tastings this week, we welcome David Koebley of Winesellers, Ltd., who will pour a selection of some of our favorite of the German and Austrian portion of their portfolio. Founded in 1978 by Yale Sager, Winesellers, Ltd. began as a one-man operation importing and selling wines primarily in the Midwest. Over the last four decades, Winesellers, Ltd. has evolved into a globally recognized importer and marketer of family-owned wineries and brands produced in both well-known and unique regions from around the world. The Sager family is proud of their enduring relationships with their wholesalers and suppliers, some whom have been a part of Winesellers portfolio from the very beginning. The Wine Enthusiast lauded Winesellers as "Importer of the Year" in 2015, though they could contend for that title every year. While all the wines for this tasting will be superb, there are two that really stand out as something different: the Fitz Ritter Sekt, a wine that shows how beautiful Riesling can be as a Sparkling Wine; and the Paul Anheuser Blanc de Noir, a stunning wine that is 100% Pinot Noir, but vinified completely as a white wine.  We hope to see you to taste those two and more!

Winemaker Tasting!
Three Wine Co. with Winemaker Matt Cline
Saturday, March 9th
4:30 - 7:00

Picture
Three Wine Company is much more than a business. It is a family winery focused on sustainable growing, coupled with a hands-on wine experience. Winemaker Matt Cline's philosophy is that: the dirt, the micro-climate, and sustainable wine growing (from vineyard to bottle) form the cornerstone of good winemaking, and is in every bottle three produces.  In conjunction with his brother, Matt was the winemaker at Cline Cellars, a winery that since the late 1980's introduced many of us to California Zinfandel, and really helped to put Contra Costa County on the wine lover's map.  I still vividly remember discovering Cline Old Vine Zinfandel back in 1995, at my very first wine job, and having one of those first epiphany moments in the wine business where I wanted to introduced EVERYONE to this wine I had just fallen in love with.  Cline grew into a huge success over the years, with Matt leaving around 2001.  He has since done several projects with his wife Erin, including Trinitas Cellars, S3x Wines, and starting in 2008 Three Wine Company.  Matt continues to focus on the historical California varietals (Carignane, Mataro, and Zinfandel), specifically in Contra Costa County. These vineyards and varietals represent the last maps of what the California wine industry was trying to do prior to prohibition in the 1920s. We are thrilled to welcome Matt on Saturday to show you his great wines!
